Heart & Stroke – FAST (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) Campaign

For over a decade, Environics Research has helped Heart & Stroke track stroke awareness in Canada, shaping campaigns like FAST and the 2025 Stroke Month initiative.

Stroke Research – Stroke Month 2025

Environics Research is proud to have partnered with Heart & Stroke for over a decade on national surveys that track Canadians’ awareness and understanding of stroke. Since 2015, our annual research has informed Heart & Stroke’s public education efforts, including the FAST (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) campaign. The most recent surveys, conducted in 2023 and 2024, revealed persistent gaps in public knowledge: more than one-third of Canadians cannot identify the most common signs of stroke, and seven in ten are unclear on the risk factors for stroke and heart disease. These findings helped shape the 2025 Stroke Month campaign, which highlights five essential – and often surprising – facts about stroke.

Key insights from our ongoing collaboration show that strokes can affect people of any age, are occurring more frequently (especially among younger Canadians), and are closely linked to heart health. Encouragingly, up to 80% of premature strokes and heart disease are preventable through healthy lifestyle changes. While the FAST campaign has significantly improved public recognition of stroke symptoms since its launch, important regional and demographic gaps remain. We are honoured to continue supporting Heart & Stroke in its mission to raise awareness and save lives.

We invite you to read the full article to learn more about this vital campaign and how you can help.
