Pink Triangle Press Pink Paper & Environics Research

Pink Triangle Press Commissioned Environics Research on a national research study examining health disparities experienced by 2SLGBTQIA+ people across Canada. The study provides evidence to support more equitable and inclusive healthcare policy and practice.

Pink Triangle Press Commissioned Environics Research on National Study on 2SLGBTQIA+ Health Disparities

Pink Triangle Press has released the Pink Paper on Health, a national research report examining health outcomes, access to care, quality of care, and experiences of discrimination among 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Canada. The study was funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada and conducted by Environics Research.

The findings are based on a cross-sectional survey of more than 2,100 respondents nationwide, half of whom identify as 2SLGBTQIA+. The research shows that 2SLGBTQIA+ communities experience poorer health outcomes, reduced access to healthcare services, and higher levels of discrimination compared with non-2SLGBTQIA+ Canadians.

“This study was deeply rewarding because national, high-quality data on 2SLGBTQIA+ health in Canada remains far too limited, particularly on discrimination and barriers to safe, high-quality care. We’re proud to have partnered with Pink Triangle Press to deliver community-led, evidence-based findings that can help drive real change in policy and practice.”

The report highlights significant disparities in mental health, chronic illness, quality of life, and access to affirming care. These disparities are particularly pronounced among Two-Spirit, trans, and gender-diverse respondents. The research identifies gaps in healthcare provider training, availability of inclusive services, and culturally safe care as contributing factors.

The Pink Paper on Health includes evidence-based recommendations intended to support policymakers, healthcare providers, and educators in improving health equity for 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Canada.

The release of the report also coincided with the launch of Script, a new digital platform by Pink Triangle Press that aims to address gaps in credible and community-informed 2SLGBTQIA+ health information.

Environics Research is proud to have partnered on this study, which reflects the organization’s commitment to purpose-driven, evidence-based research that informs policy, practice, and social change.
