Environics Research supports TPSB in comprehensive public consultations
In early 2021, Environics Research undertook extensive public consultation activities on behalf of the Toronto Police Services Board to solicit feedback from Toronto residents and stakeholders about the qualities and characteristics sought in the City’s next Chief of Police. As part of its stated commitment to a comprehensive and transparent process, the Board released the report of findings from the consultations on August 23, 2021. The report calls for a new Chief of Police who prioritizes change management and diversity and inclusion.
Environics Research engaged with over 800 stakeholders during the process, through written submissions, an open-link survey and a series of real-time virtual discussions that included public forums, focus groups and roundtables. The Environics team collaborated with TPSB and City of Toronto staff to reach out as widely as possible to engage with diverse voices across the city. As a result, residents from Etobicoke, Scarborough, York and downtown shared their views, as did Toronto Police Service members, youth elected officials, members of the local business community, and representatives from community organizations that provide services and support to Toronto’s marginalized and vulnerable residents.
