Marketing Research Associate – Financial Services Team

The Financial Services team at Environics Research in Toronto is looking for a marketing researcher with at least 2-5 years’ experience working with survey data and qualitative insights (focus groups, in-depth interviews, etc.) looking at how Canadian consumers and/or B2B professionals manage their personal and professional financial lives to join our expanding team.
Our team is fascinated by understanding the human drivers that influence money-related decisions in all realms of life: earning it, spending it, saving and investing it, using it to protect ourselves, and ultimately, sharing it and leaving legacies. Working to answer the most important questions and challenges facing our clients, our team participates in the design, execution, analysis, reporting and creation of thoughtful recommendations for Canada’s leading financial services providers in banking, investments, insurance, business financing, technology, industry associations, and more.
We help clients make smart decisions by acting on evidence. Our work is thoughtful, evidence-based, innovative, direct and useful. We routinely use a wide range of MR approaches across both qualitative and quantitative methods. A few examples of our recent work and case studies can be found here:

The Position

This is not an entry-level position, but is one where the ideal candidate will possess both an understanding of business and marketing from their academic studies, and a professional background in marketing research. Possessing a personal as well as a professional curiosity in understanding financial services decision-making is a strong asset.
The Financial Services team operates with an entrepreneurial spirit, within a collaborative, flexible and dynamic work environment. Within the role, you will consult with and support our team across all aspects of the project lifecycle, including proposal/pitch, research design, project management, interpretation and analysis, reporting, presentations, and client consultation. This position provides the opportunity to work with consultants and clients, and offers plenty of room for skill development and career advancement.


You Have
  • 2+ years’ direct experience in marketing research – buyer, supplier or research agency
  • Foundational training in market research methods, business intelligence, data analytics, etc. from a
  • Research Analyst Program or similar
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, etc.


You Are
  • Inherently fascinated by marketing and financial topics and always curious to learn more
  • Creative, analytical and able to synthesize data, with a solid understanding of the research process.
  • Well organized and able to manage multiple projects and/or client needs at once, with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and able to create client-ready deliverables at all times
  • A professional communicator with strong written, oral and communication skills
  • Effective in working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in data analysis with SPSS, Q, or R
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is a definite asset
Within 6 months you will…
  • Be exposed to a range of client problems that demand out-of-the box thinking and creative problem solving.
    Work hands on with data used by major financial services organizations to determine business strategies based on data-driven insights.
